About me ♥

Well hello there!

My name is Amy and I am an artist, a curator, a wife and a mother of a beautiful trio!

Originally from Italy, I moved to London 1998. After graduating from Central Saint Martins college in 2005 I had a dream of embarking on a career as a professional artist but, little did I know, I was about to become a "professional" wife and mother! Note the word "professional" is used loosely....

2011 and 2012 were very difficult years for me. A series of unfortunate situations tested my resilience and it was right during that difficult time that I came out with the 'Desperate Artwives' concept.

Desperate Artwives was launched as an on-line gallery for women who, like me, had put their artistic aspirations on hold to attend to family and work duties.

The response to the project attracted international recognition with artists contributing from all over the world including the 2011 Jerwood Drawing Prize winner Nicki Rolls. I then shortlisted the artists and curated an exhibition that ran for two weeks at the Vibe Gallery in London's Bermondsey.

The exhibition was well received with articles and reviews in The Guardian, Big Smoke and many local publications around the country as well as numerous on-line features.

Now, after the birth of my third child, the project is on hold but I still feel the need to get to work again, share ideas and somehow re-connect with artists out there. This is why this blog was born!

My aim is to share my artistic views on everyday life, using 'home' material to create my piece of works and this is where all becomes real. A fusion of my two favourite things my family/home and art. I will show you my reality of being a full time mum, with no money, no time (this blog is again written in between feeds, school runs and all the rest!) and perhaps too many ideas and imagination!

Thanks for reading!

Amy

We are still working on project which we hope we can share sometimes soon. If you wish to be part of the online gallery please send me an artist statement along with a few examples of your work and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! Thank you.
